چکیده

A laboratory study was carried out to evaluate the protective role of ectomycorrhizal fungi against contamination of plants growing in soil treated with cadmium at a dose of 150 μg Cd/ g soil. An alginateimmobilized inoculum of mycorrhizal fungi was used to introduce the fungi to the soil. The impact of fungi was examined in terms of changes in cadmium levels in inoculated and non-inoculated seedlings of Pinus sylvestris L. It was found that the concentration of cadmium in plants inoculated with fungi was significantly lower than in non-inoculated seedlings. We also observed that the total concentration of cadmium in contaminated soil inoculated with fungi was lower than in non-inoculated soil.

Role of Arbuscular Mycorrhizal (AM) Fungi in Phytoremediation of Soils Contaminated: A Review

Pollution of the soil environment with toxic materials from fossil burning, mining and smelting of metalliferous ores, disposal of sewage, fertilizers and pesticides, etc. has increased dramatically since the onset of industrial revolution. Application of plants with ability of absorbing heavy metals is a low-cost alternative for eliminating soils from heavy metals. Phytoremediation uses plants...

Interaction Efect between Water Deficit and Mycorrhizal Symbiosis on the Quantitative and Qualitative Yield of Sainfoin (Onobrychis sativa L.)

Water stress is one of the most important factors limiting the growth and production of crops in arid and semi-arid regions. To evaluate the effect of mycorrhizal fungi species on the growth and yield (quantity and quality) of Onobrychis sativa under water deficit condition, a greenhouse factorial experiment based on completely randomized design (CRD) with three replications was conducted in 20...

Effect of different arbuscular mycorrhizal fungal isolates on growth and arsenic accumulation in Plantago lanceolata L.

The role of indigenous and non-indigenous arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) on As uptake by Plantago lanceolata L. growing on substrate originating from mine waste rich in As was assessed in a pot experiment. P. lanceolata inoculated with AMF had higher shoot and root biomass and lower concentrations of As in roots than the non-inoculated plants. There were significant differences in As concen...

Evaluating the Effect of Cadmium on the Decline of Arizona Cypress Seedlings and the Enhancement Role of Mycorrhizal Fungus and Plant Growth Promoting Rhizobacteria

Trees decline is a complex physiological disease that results from the interactions between several factors, one of which is heavy metal stress that ultimately leads to the death of trees. This experiment, which was conducted during 2016-2017 at the campus facility of the Department of Horticulture at Isfahan University of Technology, was conducted to investigate the effects of inoculation with...
